Have you ever heard the story of the golden buddha? In a nutshell, over 300 years ago, as a burmese army planned an attack to invade Thailand, then called Siam, Siamese monks who were in possession of an enormous treasure, a solid golden Buddha that today would be valued over 200 million dollars, made a decision: To protect the Buddha from being plundered, they covered it in 12 inches of clay. The Burmese attackers thinking it worthless, ignored it but sadly killed the monks. So over 250 years, until the mid 50“s this Buddha only existed as a clay Buddha. Then, when the Buddha was being moved to a new location by a crane, it began to crack. They did not expect it to be so heavy. The monks set it down and covered it with a tarp to protect it from the rain waiting for a bigger crane to come. One monk, in the middle of the night, came to check the tarps and saw a glimmer in the crack. He carefully chiseled away around the crack as the glimmer grew. And then as the clay fell away a solid golden Buddha shone once again for the world to marvel at. Is there a golden Buddha within you? See, I beleive there is greatness within all of us. but all too often it is masked and covered by experiences and old patterns, by pressure from society, by past failness and pains. I believe we can just find that crack, that glimmer inside, connect to that part of us that knows we can love more, be more, live more, manifest more. Then the rest of old can fall away easily so we can shine at our brightest.
